Hi,

I've got an A46G8-MLF motherboard and am having problems using the SATA ports. With 2 SATA drives plugged in to the onboard SATA ports the drives get detected fine and the system boots up.

If I try to connect 4 SATA drives however, only 2 of them get detected at the post screen, and the system hangs just after the IDE detecion part of the boot process.

I've checked that there is no fault with the drives, cables, or individual onboard ports (I can get any of the drives to work on any of the ports, as long as I don't have all 4 drives connected).

Note that this is not an OS or driver issue, as the system is failing to successfully post (therefore isn't getting as far as loading the OS).

Can you please advise as to how I should fix this. Is there a particular BIOS setting I need to look out for? There's a setting for the SATA controller (under the "Integrated Peripherals" section), which is currently set to Auto - is this correct?
